Forgivness; It's a privilege.

Forgivness is given out too easily to those who do not deserve it, and yet a soldier who obeys his commander and shoots an unarmed mother and child usually does not receive this benefit. I believe he or she should. During many dictatorships, for an example, the Holocaust under Hitler's rule, soldiers are given strict instructions as to what they are to do. Many of the tasks they are given are very unhumane, such as shooting a mother and her child. Any human being would become emotional over having to do such a thing, so the soldier would feel regret and sorrow for what he or she has done. Therefore, I believe he or she should not be punished and should be forgiven. After all, they were only doing what they pledged they would do: obey their dictator.

  1. So many people would disagree with this post, however, I agree! You are exactly right about forgiving him for shooting the woman and child, because he was just obeying his commander. As he agreeed to do so when he bacame a soldier.

  3. I absolutley agree. The soldier would have died if he had not shot them so he just was protecting himself. Plus, its not like he wanted to, he was forced to. Therefore he should be forgiven.

  4. I agree completely, Ashlyn! He was just defending himself. He was obeying orders, it wasn't out of pleasure, and if he wouldn't have obeyed, he would have just been punished.

  5. You are entirly right. God says we are to be in the image of him which means we are to have forgiveness toward eveyone no matter how great a crime. Even such as killing a mother and child; it was his job and yes he was only doing his job, but if he decides he was wrong and become right with the Lord then yes they are always to be forgiven.

  6. I wonder though if obeying his commander is more important than the lives the soldier is taking. What makes killing unarmed people "okay" for a soldier, but not "okay" for a terrorist? By killing children, the murderer is cutting their lives short. So many people disagree with abortion because the children could grow up to do great things, cure cancer, save lives. Is this not the same case with the children being slaughtered during war times? What makes the lives of the unarmed women and children any less valuable than the life of the soldier or the country he is killing for?

  7. I agree but at the same time I dont. That soldier took two innocent lives. That child had his or her whole life ahead of them. Yes, the soldier was just obeying a command but he could've said no. I'm sure had had a choice. The mother and child didnt have a choice to whether they were going to live or not. For me, it would be hard to forgive that person.
